There are many reasons one may need to prune a tree, but having a reason is the first place to start. We do not prune trees without an objective. Whether its trimming back branches growing too close to a structure, reducing a limb to mitigate the risk of it failing, pruning trees for a better view of the bay, or removing risky deadwood to improve property safety, all of the above are valid reasons to prune a tree. Pruning without an objective or performing improper pruning practices could harm an otherwise healthy tree and create problems in the future.
